Picnic Club: Millennial picnic on Hampstead Heath, 17th Oct

On Wednesday the 17th October I will be holding an Autumnal walk + picnic on the magical Hampstead Heath for London millennials. A great way to get away from the tech and into the fresh air – whilst enjoying some fabulous food and meeting new people. Who knew you could tick so many boxes in one go?

This is a great way to meet new people and make sure you get your all-important vitamin D boost. Anyone can come, providing you’re a millennial (in your 20s and early 30s) who eats meat (vegetarians your time will come!).

How does it work?

Think supper club, but outside, and with a little bit of team effort. The idea is I make the picnic, we meet at designated point, everyone brings a backpack across which I can distribute the food and picnic paraphernalia, we go for a small amble (20-30 minutes), then we reach the perfect picnic spot and munch and natter to our hearts content.

Menu

Autumn is slowly but surely closing in on us. The leaves are turning, daylight hours are dwindling, and there’s that unmistakable Autumn nip in the air. So what we really need to do now, is start fattening up for the winter months with a hearty, warming picnic.

All the food is 100% homemade, from the chutney down to that sumptuous, flaky sausage roll pastry. Veggies, this may not be the picnic for you, but your time will come!

Two dips: classic hummus, and a herbed yoghurt with feta and avocado, alongside your classic dippers

Hefty chorizo and black pudding sausage rolls to go with a sticky onion chutney

Homemade salted caramel hot chocolates topped with whipped cream and crumbled brownie

Payment: £10 per person

You must RSVP via Meetup.com (link here).

I will require a £5 deposit via bank transfer no later than 3 days before the picnic (I will email you with my bank details privately) in order for you to secure your place and for me to cover the cost of ingredients. You can pay the rest either in cash on the day or by bank transfer if you prefer, but you will NOT BE ALLOWED on the picnic if you’ve forgotten to bring the money I’m afraid, even if you’ve paid the deposit. You have been warned…

We will be meeting at the car park on the left as you enter Hampstead Heath from Downshire Hill (on the right if you’re walking up from Hampstead Heath Station).

We will then walk from the car park through the heath for between 20 and 30 minutes until we reach our perfect picnic spot. And don’t worry, we have backup shelter points where we can have our picnic in case the heavens decide to open. Then it’s up to you – go for a longer walk, explore Hampstead, go for a swim in the ponds… whatever you fancy!
